Exporting External Data Sources

Exporting external data sources is a function used to back-up system configuration information to a file that can be imported into another SmartSolve environment. For example, the user can design and test the data source in a test or training environment before they import the configuration to the production environment.

NOTE: All exported data source records are saved as *.resx files

Follow the steps below to export external data sources.

  1. From the SmartSolve Administrator Tools tab, select Utility > Configure Data Sources.
Result: The External Data Source window is displayed.
  2. Click the Export button.
  3. Click Open to view the file or click Save to save the file.

NOTE: If the Open option is selected, the data is opened in a text editor where file will need to be saved. See Viewing Exported Information for additional information.

NOTE: If the Save button is selected, the Save As window opens where you can select the folder to save the file, and then click Save.
